Believers are Called to Work, Not to be Idle

If the casual church member is mad at me for Who I endorse as the way to Heaven, better mad than glad when he leaves this life......

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. Ephesians 2:8-10.

“It’s the System, it’s the System!!” And I would answer, “Does it REALLY MATTER so long as Texas Tech wins?” Coach Mike Leach does have a system of coaching that wins many ball games, isn’t that the name of the game, winning? So long as the rules are followed as touchdowns are scored, and there is only one way to score and that is to cross the goal line with the football. Every coach has a ‘system’, each and every one. God also has a system, a plan and His is for souls to be saved and only through His Son, Jesus Christ.

The emphasis that Paul makes is that every Believer is created to work in the Kingdom because we are created in Christ for good works, and we are to walk in them. We are not called to be happy and do nothing. We are called for the purpose of doing good works in the Kingdom as a part of the Gift of Salvation that we have received. We are not to sit casually by while the committed are at work and there is a great reason for not being casual.

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you. And I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law. You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. Galatians 5:1-4.

An athlete is given a responsibility and if that responsibility is not fulfilled because of lack of skill or lack of commitment, that place is filled by someone else who can or will. Some folks come to the Meeting Place, where born again Believers in Jesus Christ meet and think that they can ‘make the grade’ by becoming a member of the local church. Many in the church are fooled into thinking that these must be Christians because they are present when the doors are open unless some kind of an event gets on the schedule. Suddenly worship, honor and working for God becomes less important than some secular event, ie., a ballgame, fishing, hunting, etc. This is referred to as Casual Christianity and God does not favor this.

'I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. 'So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. Revelation 3:15-16.

These people are not saved, they were never saved, they were Casual in their presence by name only and not by faith.

Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you. And I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law. Vv 2-3.

The Law is what it is for it was designed to help everyone understand their ‘lostness’ for by the law no man is saved.

Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; Romans 3:19-20.

For those of us who are Believers we must be concerned for everyone who is lost and not be confused by those who are ‘Casual Christians’.

Jesus is Lord
