The World as It Is

Most will not accept the truth of Christ because He is viewed through human understanding and until he is viewed and received by faith there cannot be an understanding of His Truth.......

As they were going along the road, someone said to Him, "I will follow You wherever You go." And Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." And He said to another, "Follow Me." But he said, "Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father." But He said to him, "Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God." Another also said, "I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home." But Jesus said to him, "No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." Luke 9:57-62.

Most of have seen a dead body at one time or another and those are experiences that would best be forgotten. However, those images are permanently stored away in our brains and they always seem to haunt us and remind us of ‘the way things were.’ This is a physical image of a physically dead body, but what about the spiritual death that God’s Word speaks about?

Spiritual death begins while the physical is yet a reality and will continue into eternity unless something is done only as the physical continues.

For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is death. But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:20-23.

Please note these words of Paul, “For the outcome of those things is death.” When physical death occurs, the eternal death begins unless something is done.

The responsibility for those of us who have been freed from the slavery of sin is eternally enormous. Consider these words of the Christ, "Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God." Luke 9:60. Jesus has given to every Believer the enormous responsibility of allowing our friends to do the same….to share the Gospel Message with the lost of our world. The Believer cannot and will not hand this obligation to someone else because the Lord demands that it be done. For there is no one else to do it.

Are you fit for the Kingdom of God?

But Jesus said to him, "No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." Luke 9:62. Many will say, “Yes” to this question, but when put to task, must ultimately say, “No”. And the reason is clear, they have not actively shared their faith with a lost person. They have looked back from where they have come wondering if what they have done is enough to go to heaven. The Christ has said “No” and the reason is that they have not been busy about sharing the Gospel Message with a Lost Community.
