Proclaiming the Gospel Message, Fulfilling the Need

Hunger for the Gospel Message is effected when those who hold the Message are effectually distributing the same.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Matthew 5:6.

Satisfaction for any desire or need can never be fulfilled unless provision is made. Therefore, hunger and thirst cannot be quenched without the meal or without the water. Who is it that makes provision for the hunger and for the thirst. The Provider is God through Jesus Christ. He not only provides the elements, but He also provides for the serving of them. His Disciples, His Followers are the Servants of the provisions for those who hunger and thirst, and the provision is the Gospel of Truth that leads to salvation by God’s Grace through faith.

Hunger and thirst does not happen without the preparation of the meal. Until the people surrounding the Holy City of David began to hear of the One who had come proclaiming the presence of the Son of God there was nothing present to fill the void in their lives. But it was John the Forerunner of the Christ who was preparing the way, “They asked him, and said to him, "Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?" John answered them saying, "I baptize in water, but among you stands One whom you do not know. It is He who comes after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie." These things took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing. The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:25-29.

The Christ came into a world that was void of God’s Truth in practice. Oh, the Truth was present in the Torah and traditions of the Jewish people, but there was not life in their practice.

When Jesus came, He brought hope in His Message and practice. He set the Table and His Servants are to serve the meal; the meal is the Gospel Message. The obligation of the Believer is to make proclamation of the same.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH." Romans 1:16-17.

Southern Baptists are making an enormous effort to make known the necessity for God’s people to be actively promoting the Gospel Message. They must be moved of God in order for the Message to be proclaimed and the prayer is that they will heed the call of the Christ.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! Romans 10:14-15.

The Message is clear. The Disciples, the Believers of the Christ will hear the mandate and they will actively involved in making proclamation of the Gospel Message. The fact is, few workers are involved in the Lord’s Harvest, Jesus is very clear in making this known…

Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest." Matthew 9:36-38.

John prepared the way for the Christ, Jesus made the provision for the Message, and the Believers are to make the Message known.
